This course is for independent learners who are working towards their Grade 5 and Grade 6 practical exams. It is a prerequisite of the ABRSM Grade 6 practical exam to pass the Grade 5 Theory exam. This can seem scary - particularly for those who have not undertaken any theory training before. This course prepares pupils with all necessary skills and understanding to complete the ABRSM Grade 5 Theory exam. Each weekly session of this course will be available on replay in your member's only page. This means that you can complete the course material at your own pace and repeat the steps as many times as necessary to build up your confidence. By the end of the training you will understand: - Irregular time signatures and rhythmic groupings - How to transpose music - particularly useful for players of transposing instruments such as the clarinet or horn - The circle of fifths: how are key signatures built and how do they organise music? - How chords are built and how to identify them in music - What are cadences and how do I find them in music? As well as: - a large glossary of terms and signs that you might encounter in written music - how to understand ornaments and decorative figures in music - learn about different voice types - characteristics of most instruments and instrument families All of the trainings will be available to you via a membership portal after their live airing on Zoom.
